Workshop Kickoff: Envisioning Resilience Takes Flight in Kajiado!

We’re excited to kick off the photography training workshop for the Envisioning Resilience project in Kajiado County, Kenya!.This marks an important step as we begin working with our first group of seven participants—a dynamic mix of women and youth from local pastoralist communities. These individuals are stepping up as visual storytellers, ready to share their experiences with climate change through the power of photography.

The workshop offers practical training in both photography and storytelling, equipping participants to document the realities of climate change—from drought and shifting seasons to the innovative ways their communities are adapting.

By sharing their lived experiences, participants will help shape more inclusive National Adaptation Planning (NAP) processes in Kenya, ensuring that local voices are heard and valued in climate decision-making.

Introducing the Envisioning Resilience Project

“Envisioning Resilience”, an initiative by the IISD’s NAP Global Network in partnership with Lensational, with funding from Global Affairs Canada 🇨🇦. This project aims to amplify the voices of underrepresented groups—particularly women and youth—in Kajiado County, Kenya, by offering photography training as a tool for storytelling, advocacy, and influence in national adaptation planning (NAP) processes.

Kajiado County, home to many pastoralist communities, is among the regions most affected by climate change. By equipping community members with the skills to document their lived experiences and resilience strategies, Envisioning Resilience seeks to center local knowledge in climate policy conversations.

This project goes beyond documentation—it’s about empowering communities, promoting gender equality, and advancing inclusive climate action. Through the lens of those directly impacted, we aim to foster deeper understanding and more responsive climate adaptation strategies.
