Structure & Secretariat
The Desert Bloom Alliance will operate as a collaborative network of grassroots
organizations, guided by inclusivity, transparency, and shared leadership.
● Secretariat: The Secretariat of the Alliance will be hosted by Spring of the Arid
and Semi-Arid Lands (SASAL). As the founding organization and vision bearer,
SASAL will provide coordination, administration, and technical support to ensure
the Alliance’s sustainability and effective implementation of activities.
● Leadership: While SASAL hosts the Secretariat, decision-making will remain
collective. A rotating coordination committee of member organizations will
shape advocacy priorities and oversee accountability.
● Membership: Open to grassroots and community-based organizations
committed to climate justice, Indigenous rights, and gender equality.
Why Sasal as Secretariat?
Vision Bearer: SASAL initiated the Alliance as part of its long-term commitment to amplify grassroots voices in climate spaces.
Capacity: With proven experience in community mobilization, Indigenous-led advocacy, and climate resilience programs, SASAL is well-positioned to coordinate and anchor the Alliance.
Sustainability: Anchoring the Secretariat in SASAL provides stability, credibility, and continuity while the Alliance expands.
